North Arm Cove new treasurer and booking officer for Community Centre

THE vacant positions of treasurer and booking officer for North Arm Cove Community Centre Management Committee have been filled as told by the Cove News.

At the committee’s July meeting, Barry Young was appointed treasurer and Elizabeath Deane accepted the role of booking officer.

These changes were brought about due to the resignation of Bob Griffin a few months earlier and the departure from the cove of the long-serving booking officer, Geoff Lowe.

Coinciding with these changes, Great Lakes Council announced their 2014/15 hall hire fees.

The committee were happy to note that there has only been a minimal increase to the most popular community centre charges:
• Under 2 hours (formerly $17) now $18,
• 1-3 hours (formerly $19) now $20,
• 1-4 hours (formerly $25) now $26,
• 4+ hours – full day (formerly $57) now $60.

Please contact Elizabeth Deane 4997 3258 for a comprehensive list of the 2014/15 community centre hire fees and conditions.
On the downside, the committee were disappointed with the response from the community to the masked ball they planned to hold July 18.

The lack of interest prompted the committee to unanimously vote not to go ahead with the event.

This decision was not taken lightly and the committee do sincerely thank those residents who had expressed their interest in attending the event and hope the decision to cancel did not inconvenience them in any way.

Plans for a social gathering in the Spring are being discussed and, of course, the ever-popular Melbourne Cup Day celebration will be held the first Tuesday in November. Retiring booking officer, Geoff Lowe was presented with a farewell gift from the committee, prior to his departure to Mudgee.

He was thanked for his hard work and dedication to the community during his time as a committee member and community centre
booking officer.
