OUR local Police have gone above and beyond to help build positive relations with the younger generation.
Sixteen children were given the opportunity through the school holidays to go on a fishing adventure with three officers in blue.
Joining forces were Karuah Police Constable Trent Moffat, Senior Constable Brad Smith from Stroud and Senior Constable Dave Coyle from the Tea Gardens station.
The youngsters too, came from across the region.
Students from Stroud, Karuah and Tea Gardens Public Schools were given the chance to make new friends and learn how to bait a hook and throw a line.
“The aim of the day was to build positive connections between the local police and our local students,” Tea Gardens Primary School Principal Mark Clemson told News Of The Area.
The children started off the day with a fun-filled drive along Bennetts Beach.
Then it was time for some hands-on fishing advice.
Unfortunately the fish had other ideas.
Youngster Tyler Rodgers from Tea Gardens Public School caught a decent flathead and one of the support crew managed to land a bream.
But it was the case of the one that got away for the police.
Luckily, lunch had been pre planned and the three officers cooked up a great barbecue.
“It was a very successful day,” Mark said.
“We were blessed with the outstanding conditions, sun shining, and the water was just divine.”
