Ethan Smith of Surfing NSW told News Of The Area, “It was Stretton 1 and 2 with Josh Stretton taking out the Under-18 Junior Men and David Stretton taking second place in the Over 50’s Men’s in the 2019 SUP State Titles held at One Mile Beach, Port Stephens.

“The Anna Bay duo used their local knowledge and skill to secure their wins,” he said

The 2019 SUP State Titles saw its four final state champions crowned this week as the 2019 Port Stephens Surf Festival came to a climactic finish in one-foot surf.

2018 NSW SUP State Titleholder Kai Bates of Mollymook claimed his second title in as many years taking out the Open Men’s division.

After some stellar results in the Marathon and Technical race divisions, James Casey of Collaroy was able to claim a surfing title, taking out the Men’s 10-foot SUP final.

Casey put on a consistent performance over the duration of the 25-minute final to get the victory ahead of fellow multi-division finalist Marty Cole of Avalon.

Josh Stretton of Anna Bay not only claimed the win in the Under 18’s but was placed fourth in the Open Men’s SUP event.

This success for Port Stephens surfers follows the recent win of Jay Phillips of Fingal Bay showing that the Port has some great local talent.
