Sharon Drew of Absolutely Beautiful Flowers, located in William Street Raymond Terrace, hosted the event, with all proceeds going to charity.
Sharon has been in business in town for ten years, and has a strong community spirit, and a love for helping others.
She conducts a number of fundraising event each year, choosing different charities each time that benefit our community in some way.
For the Melbourne Cup event this year, the local State Emergency Service (SES) were the beneficiaries of the charitable donations raised as a result of the local businesses who donated prizes, and patrons on the day.
Attendees raised funds through raffles and other assorted activities, including a Melbourne Cup Day balloon lucky dip where patrons purchase balloons chosen at random, then pop the balloon to reveal a ticket hidden inside that corresponds with a prize on the table.
Sharon was ecstatic with the final tally of $1,100 raised for the Port Stephens SES.
Sharon told News Of The Area,“With the wonderful support of local businesses on board we have been able to do great things.”
“Our passion is helping people, we feel it is a privilege as the business grows, to be able to give back to the community.”
“Our business wouldn’t be the business it is today without the wonderful support of Raymond Terrace and surrounding communities.”
“I’d like to give a massive thank you to my beautiful team at the shop, and the management and staff of the Victoria Hotel, Hinton,” she said.
Local businesses who contributed to the successful Melbourne Cup Fundraiser for the SES include, Alyssa’s Hair Boutique, Victoria Hotel Hinton, Mass Nutrition Raymond Terrace, Elitz Nails and Beauty, Michael Hill, Hattie’s Boutique, Cups N Saucers, Browns Butchery, Get it Off, Nextra Newsagents, Leo’s Takeaway, Blooms Pharmacy, Autopro, Chemmart Pharmacy, Captain Pharmacy and Nail Call.
