After some trial installations in Victoria, Soldiers Point put up its hand to install the system as soon as it was ready.

Tennis Australia approved and subsidised the installation, in order to give club members and visitors easier access to the courts.

During holiday times especially, visitors were previously limited in getting keys to times when the nearby holiday park was open, but now they can gain access any day between 7am and 10pm, with lights being turned on and off by the system as necessary.

Club President Paul McQuarrie said, “This is a great innovation, both to our members and visitors.”

“They can now go online any day, night or weekend, book and pay online and come down for some healthy family fun. We even have loan racquets and balls there that are free to use,” Mr McQuarrie said.

Club members can use the courts for free in daytime, with only a small fee for lights at night.
