Another awesome happening in the Club is the exciting news that former Club President, Peter Kellaway, will be competing in the World Masters Games, to be held in Auckland in April. Peter will be a strong contender for honours in the 80-84 age group. Also representing Myall Masters will be current President, Chris Lock, who is in peak form and will stand on the podium in the 75-79 age group. Both swimmers are no strangers to the elite level of World competition. Peter and Chris’ commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle through the sport of swimming is an inspiration to our Club members. At Club level, the final handicap event was swum and all that remains is to tally the points to see who will take out placings in the prestigious event. How it works is members register to participate and their swim time is used to calculate the time they leave the blocks. Some swimmers may have to give a generous lead but speeding down the lane to catch up makes for exciting viewing. For the judges it can often be a difficult task to separate the winners as they hit the wall. The Club competed at the recent Raymond Terrace meet with strong swims being recorded. After a big day of challenging performances in the pool the members debrief their results over a cup of coffee, as seen in the photo.
