This iconic event to be held on Saturday 13 July will see men, women and children vying for the title of Australia’s
‘biggest tosser’.

Traditionally, the male event includes throwing a brick which weighs in at five pounds and the women hurl two and a half pound rolling pins, providing a chance to demonstrate their impressive skills while taking part in this historic event.

Hunter Strongman and reigning Australian Champion brick thrower, Kurt Livens (from Largs) and Stroud local, Sarah Eggins the current rolling pin champion, are both returning to the 2019 event to defend their titles.

If you are up for the challenge to beat Kurt’s 2018 record of 85’ 3” (25m) and Sarah’s 96’ 10” (29m) – entries for all categories open from approximately 11.30am on event day.

Nobody would have ever assumed that an entire event could be based on a brick, and that so much fun could be had from such a basic object.

Boasting a population of over 700 the little town of Stroud, NSW however had very different ideas for this slab of cement, and are now the only Stroud in the world to continue this whacky tradition.

In 1960 the towns of Stroud in the UK and the USA, both brick-making towns, held the first bricking-throwing contest.

With Australia and Canada joining in 1961, and in 1962 Australia suggested including a women’s rolling pin contest.

More recently the fun-filled addition of children being able to hurling a hen embodies the events sense of family spirit and light-heartedness, which keeps attracting participants and spectators year after year.

Providing the ultimate family day out, the Stroud Showground will be bursting with market and food stalls, activities and entertainment – just be careful to duck out the way of the propelling pins, pullets and blocks!

Littlest visitors can enjoy face painting and a variety of fun games led by Medowie Girl Guides.

The ever popular tug-o-war returns along with the fast and furious post splitting and wood chop and a vintage vehicle displays.
