Stroud Janet Greenham awarded at Parliament for Parent of the Year

STROUD Road Public School parent Janet Greenham has been recognised for her contribution to her school community with a 2016 Public School Parent of the Year Award at a ceremony held in NSW Parliament House.

Ms Greenham was one of ten parents to receive the Award.

She was recognised for twenty years’ support of the school first as a parent and currently as a grandparent.

She has been involved in the P&C, the canteen, the uniform committee, fundraising, running hobby groups and teaching craft and art.

Her willingness to help out has made her an invaluable member of the school community.

Mark Scott, Secretary, Department of Education, said the award recipients came from all over NSW reflecting the high quality of education being delivered in public schools across the State.

“In my first month as Secretary, it’s an honour to hear the stories of these remarkable recipients and celebrate their achievements,” Mr Scott said.

“I applaud the dedication of this year’s award winners – it’s testimony to our continued focus on quality teaching and improving learning outcomes.”

The Minister’s and Secretary’s Awards for Excellence recognise outstanding achievements in NSW public schools. 36 awards were presented for the following categories:

  • Minister’s Award for Excellence in Student Achievement
  • Minister’s Award for Excellence in Teaching
  • Secretary’s Award for Excellent Service
  • Secretary’s Award for an Outstanding School Initiative
  • Secretary’s School Achievement Award
  • Public School Parent of the Year

The Awards are administered by the Public Education Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation which collaborates with schools, communities, business and government to help students achieve their full potential, while enhancing the value and reputation of public schools.
