All ages and capabilities are welcome and with a common set of goals of having fun, social inclusion and camaraderie in an environment where parallel play is the accepted norm, this group of Superstars enjoy their weekly visit for ten pin bowling at Salamander Super Strike.

At their recent competition, which is held every 15 weeks, Dylan Merrett and his team mate took out first place.

It is a friendly weekly meet up with a ‘pick a box’ treat for every person who scores a spare or strike.

Through the support of his mum, (Judy Merrett), Dylan said, “I love bowling, it is the best thing.”

Judy said, “When I bring Dylan here, he is a different child, he is happy when playing and as the aim of the game is to knock down the pins, he can see easily when he has done well.”

“The staff here are so understanding and supportive, they welcome the group each week and know everyone by name, which makes a big difference.”

“It’s great to get together with other parents and carers and to see the guys supporting one another and having fun,”  Judy told News Of The Area.

“With very little available for those with a disability in the evenings, it’s important to create activities for them.”

The Superstars get together at Superstrike every Tuesday, 4 – 5.00pm, and they stay for two games.

“Whilst we are not an official ‘group’, everyone is welcome to turn up, join in and help us expand our Superstars,”  Judy said.
