This year’s theme is ‘Gardens and Connected Landscapes’, with new works from more than 40 artists on display and vying for the ‘People’s Choice’ vote.

January also marks The Gallery’s first year of operation.

“It’s hard to believe that our official launch was only a year ago,” President of the GIG, Trevor Cook said.

“It was a balmy, perfect evening, a huge crowd of locals, dignitaries and visitors to the area flowed out onto the Marine Drive, and the lively speeches and fun speech banter particularly between our pollies drew many a chuckle,” Trevor said.

“It was a very happy occasion and gave our members and their partners great pride in what had been achieved through working bees, donations and elbow grease.”

“The Gallery has been a great success to date, and as hoped has become a welcoming place to stop by, check out the latest art, have a chat, take a coffee into its lush garden.”

The Gallery is not for profit and run by its members who volunteer their time to keep the doors open 6 days a week, “It’s so beautiful, we believe it will become an icon,” Lesly Stevenson said.

“Visitors continue to give us great feedback on the atmosphere and many express how it is a drawcard for tourists to the area,” Trevor said.

The Cool Summer exhibition opens on Friday 18 January at 5pm and will continue through to the end of January.

Entry is free and the venue is wheelchair accessible.

Galleries in the Gardens is located on Marine Drive in Tea Gardens, diagonally opposite the ferry wharf and is open between 10am and 4pm, every day except Tuesday.
