Local Federal MP Dr David Gillespie today announced funding of $15,000 under the programme towards the installation of a new lift and other access improvements to the club house.

“These facilities are an important component in the Club’s overall plans to undertake a larger redevelopment of the 40-year-old clubhouse and I am delighted they have been able to secure close to the maximum funds available under this particular funding programme,” Dr Gillespie said.

“The Club, through its volunteer members, does a magnificent job looking after us all at the beach during the beach patrol season and I know this latest improvement to the club’s facilities will benefit not only their members, but the broader local community,” he added.

The Tea Gardens – Hawks Nest Surf Life Saving Club has over 200 Members.

The Stronger Communities Programme supports the Federal Coalition Government’s commitment to deliver social benefits across Australia by funding small capital projects in each of the 150 federal electorates.

The programme’s intended outcomes are to improve local community participation and contribute to vibrant and viable communities. Round 3 of the programme will provide $22.5 million in 2017-18, $150,000 to each electorate.
