13 March: A few little showers did not deter 54 bowlers from enjoying the popular Wednesday Nominated Triples competition.

To celebrate the start of the Rugby League season, footy jumpers were in vogue with players supporting their favourite clubs.
A free lunch was provided with the compliments of the Bowls Committee.
The winners on the synthetic were; Col Fossey, Vick Garlick and Bill Heylbut with +14.
The grass green winners were; of Paul Carter, Stew Sturrock and Bill Whalen with a + 6.
The Lucky card draw went to Noel Jackson, Doug Andrews and Greg Smith.
16 March: The second round of the Newcastle District Pennant competition was due to be played today with the First National Grade 4 side and the Grade 7 side playing at home against Beresfield and East Maitland respectively.
The First National Grade 6 side were away to Karuah but the beautiful rains put paid to any play there as well.
It appears likely that Round 2 will be played next Sunday so Pennant players will have a busy weekend.
17 March: The uncompleted games from Round 1, affecting Grade 4 and Grade 6 were finalised today with Grade 4 falling short at Karuah, 50-71.
It was all good new at Tea Gardens though with the Grade 6 side completing a great win against Wallsend Diggers 75-53.
There was an outstanding performance from the Leigh Hunt combination with a stunning 31-15 demolition of their opponents.
Next week, 23 March, Grade 4 travel to East Maitland, Grade 6 play Hexham at home and Grade 7 travel to Hexham.
There was great support for the Sunday Bowlers today with a visit from the Burwood Colliery Social Bowlers.
A terrific field of 36 players enjoyed their day even though the weather was a little threatening.
The winners were Phil Carr, Burwood Colliery, and Graham Watkins.
