Tea Gardens Men’s Bowling Club News

Today was a very special day in the Bowling Club’s calendar.

Club Patron, Daryl Martin hosted Patron’s Day and the bowlers responded with 56 players in attendance.

As there was prizemoney to play for, it was an open draw for partners.

The prize recipients on the day were decided by “ends won” and “margins”.

The results were as follows:

1st place with 33 points were Ian Baker, Bill Baillie and Neil Kibble.

2nd place with 28 points on a countback of ends won were Andy Docherty, Dave Perry and Geoff Muggleton.

3rd place also on 28 points were Rob Jones, Greg Smith and Dennis Longman.

4th place with 20 points on a countback were Tony Butler, Bill Heylbut and Leigh Hunt.

5th place also on 20 points were John Moore and Mark Nightingale.

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to Daryl Martin and the men’s bowls for sponsoring the event.

The Garden Eatery voucher was won by Tony Butler.

Another very special day was celebrated at the Club today with “Dolphin Day”.

It is on this day we remember our members who are no longer with us.

Following a ceremonial lowering and raising of the flag, the men’s club members challenged the women’s club to determine the winner of the “Shirts V Skirts trophy.

Although the Men’s Club won, there were some very good competitions with the team of Rick Islaab, Geoff Page and Ron Green adjudged the overall winners, from Dot Dallas, Bette Sailard and Linda Richards.

In other news, Tea Gardens Pennants for next season may not start until July and confirmation of this from Bowls NSW and NDBA will follow shortly.

More great competition will be held on Wednesday 10 November with “Versatility Day’ scheduled.

The format will be single entry, random team draw of 4 players comprising each team.

The Pennants Bash luncheon is on Monday 29 November 12.30pm for 1pm for those eligible to attend.

In another highlight of the year, Presentation Night will be held on Monday 6 December.
