This week it was Nominated Fours.

There was some doubt as to play actually commencing due to the very hot playing conditions.

The temperature reached 38.8 degrees in the shade at one stage with the only factor keeping the bowlers on the green being a very pleasant sea breeze.

The organisers decided that play would be limited to one game of 18 ends without a break for lunch.

This format was well received and many bowlers took the opportunity to have lunch and a few cold ones after the game.

The scoring formula was 20 points for the win plus ends won.

The winning side, with a score of +31 was the team of Gary Wynne, Geoff Fowler, Ken Devlin and Mark Hair. Well done!

In second place, also on a score of +31 was the team of David Garcia, Peter Gurney, Bob Weir and Bill Whalan.

Wednesday bowls will resume on 11 January 2017.

16 December

In contrast to Wednesday, light drizzle for most of the morning put paid to Friday Open Pairs.

There was a small field in any case with many players preoccupied with cleaning out fridges and freezers from the 28 hour blackout the night before.

Friday Open Pairs will resume on Friday 6 January.

It is refreshing to see that entries are still trickling in for the Club Fours Championship commencing on Saturday 14 January 2017.

Later in January entries will be received for the Club Minor Pairs Championship which this year will be played over rounds of 18 ends with 3 bowls.

The Bowling Club would like to thank all bowlers for their support during the year especially our Pennant teams for their efforts in promoting Tea Gardens Country Club Bowling Club at home and away.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
