It was very hot and humid today, but 52 bowlers turned out to play in the Wednesday Nominated Fours.
There were six games of Fours and one game of Pairs.

The format was 20 points for a win plus ends won.

The winners came from a Pairs combination of Scott Beaumont and Danny Johnson. They managed +34.

The oppressive heat continued today but it was tempered by a welcome north-east sea breeze, making conditions bearable.

The heat would have kept some bowlers away, but nevertheless 18 fabulous Friday Open Jackpot Pairs players competed.
There were three games of Pairs and a game of Triples.

The “old firm” of John Slater and Alan Greenhalgh won the first place money from runners-up, the Triples team of Col Saillard, Greg Smith and Frank Dunn.

Col, Greg and Frank may have been disappointed in coming second but disappointment turned to joy when they knocked-off the Jackpot.

They shared $260.00 between them. Well Done!

The second round of the Club Championship Fours was played today in overcast and moderate conditions.

In a replay of last year’s final, the Paul Syron combination accounted for the Alan Greenhalgh side 25-15 in a great game.

The Doug Naylor side accounted for the Keith Smith team 28-7 and the Kerry O’Brien team prevailed over the Stewart Sturrock side 23-15.

The semi-finals will be played next Saturday morning with what promises to be a battle royale between the Greg Pearson combination and the powerful defending champions skipped by Paul Syron.

The remaining game will be between the Doug Naylor side playing the Kerry O’Brien team.

Let us hope the weather is kind.
