The winning combination of Garry Porter, Gary Wynne and John Adam won both their matches recording tens in both for +20.

The runners-up, Tom Short, Geoffrey Muggleton and Dennis Ashbridge also had two good wins to finish on +18 from Barry Drayton, Terry Munright and Ron Webster, also on +18.

18 November: A foretaste of summer greeted the 16 stalwart bowlers contesting the Friday Open Jackpot Pairs.

In balmy 33 degrees the competition was hot as well.

The formula of 4 points for a win plus ends won was selected for the winners.

Best matching the winning formula was the team of Henk Faber and Lily Smith.

Runners-up, on a count back, were Stewart Sturrock and Robyn Beaumont.

Full marks for the players that turned up and well done to the winners!

The jackpot was not won and will total $180 when Friday Open Pairs resumes.

Please note that next Friday the Village People take on a President’s side for what should be a great afternoon of bowls.
In other news: There was no Sunday Bowls this week.

Sunday bowlers please note that the Dungog Trip for Sunday Bowls is the 4th December not 27th November, as previously advised, as the Country Club AGM is that date.

I am informed that the grass green will be taken out of service at the end of the month.

The entry form is now on the notice board for the Patron’s Pairs to be played on Saturday 3 December.

The Club Presentation Night will be held the following Monday night commencing at 6.00 pm.

There is a Versatility Day planned for 10 December. The format for this may change.

Wednesday 21 December will be the last formal Men’s bowls day for the year with plenty of prawns for lunch!
