Twenty points was awarded for a win plus ends won.

The winners on 57 points, 2 wins plus 17 ends, were Gary Wynne, Gary Melrose and Henk Faber.

Runners-up were Terry Munright, Barry Drayton and Ron Webster.

The last round of the Mid-Week Pennant competition was played today with the Dolphins Grade 4 side competing away against Raymond Terrace.

The Mark Hair Four managed to sneak a one shot win over their opponents but the remaining teams were well out-bowled.

Raymond Terrace won the match 73-31.

The Tea Gardens side finished 5th in their Sectional rounds. Not bad for a first effort.

Next week Wednesday play will return to the old format of two games of 12-end Triples.

In Fabulous Friday Open Jackpot Pairs played today the winners were decided by the lowest winning margin.

Scott Beaumont and Greg Pearson won the day from Gary Wynne and Bill Heylbut.

The jackpot was not won and will stand at $180.00 next week.

Round 8 of the Newcastle District Pennants was played today with good news for our two leading sides and an unfortunate result for the struggling “Fives”.

Grade 3 played away at the Toronto Workers BC today and established an unequivocal lead in their Section with an astounding 101-25 win over Toronto Workers BC.

All teams won emphatically.

The Richard Lee team won 32-6, Steve Pell four won 26-11 and the Sean Mearrick team won in a whitewash 43-8. Well done!

Grade 6 have also now hit their Sectional lead with a resounding win against the former competition leaders, Soldiers Point at home.

It was a clean sweep with the Ron Webster team winning 24-15, the Danny Johnson four winning 16-13 and the Doug Naylor combination rounding off a perfect day winning 29-10.

With two more rounds to play the “Sixes” and the “Threes” are in with a big chance.

The success of the Grade 6 has come at some expense to the Grade 5 side who have had to soldier on with an under strength complement of players.

This showed in their match against Karuah where two teams had good games but the remaining team took a “pasting”.

In contrast to many clubs with grass greens, who have presented “dead” surfaces this season, the green at Karuah was immaculate and a great credit to their greenkeeper.

Sunday Mixed Bowls played today, with a good roll-up of players.

The winners with the highest margin were Tony Coomer, (new bowler), Kathy Stone and Karen McPhie.

Lucky Losers were Hannah Richards, Chris Stone and Lynda Richards.

A big thank you to Ron Webster and Barry Goode for cooking the lunch.

Following on from Sunday Mixed Bowls, the Final of the Club Championship Pairs was played today with the defending champions, Jeff Baker and Steve Pell opposing the “Palm Lake” connection, of Scott Beaumont and Greg Pearson.

The game extended into the long shadows of the afternoon in front of an appreciative gallery.

Some great bowls were played by both sides but Scott and Greg prevailed winning 23-14.

Congratulations to the Tea Gardens Club Pairs 2017 Champions, Scott Beaumont and Greg Pearson.

Entries are now being received for the Club Major Singles Championship which promises to be the highlight of the bowling year.
