John Adkins told News Of The Area, “We had a great day,” he said, “it’s mainly to get rid of excess equipment that comes in during the year.”

“A lot of tools and gear we get donated might not be working, if they’re electrical or tools that need fixing, the guys repair them and get them in good working order,” John said.

The garage sale raised nearly $1,000 for the Men’s Shed, money which goes to buying more equipment and supplies.

“We sold toys, rocking horses, wind spinners, all sorts of things which could be used for Christmas gifts, were sold.”

There are just under 50 members of the Men’s Shed and the doors are open four days a week from Monday through to Thursday from 8.30am till 12.30pm.

The Shed is a virtual ‘Alladins Cave’ for any man who loves to tinker with tools.

But there’s also a snooker table, dart board and café area for the blokes who just want to have a cuppa and a chat.

New members are always welcome, so just drop in.

The Men’s Shed is located in the Tea Gardens Industrial area, next to the Rural Fire Service Headquarters.
