The Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens Progress Association have been acting on behalf of the community to find out where and how the money is going to be spent, following the announcement of the funding boost by Premier Gladys Berejiklian back in June.
Gordon Grainger from the Progress Association received this message from the Police Minister’s office.
“The NSW Government is absolutely committed to delivering a new police station for Tea Gardens to ensure our officers have the best possible resources to do their jobs. “
“As with any building project, the initial stages include design, planning approval and tendering for construction, all of which will be completed this financial year.”
“This will also include an opportunity for community consultation as part of the planning approval process.”
“Construction of the new police station, which is fully budgeted, will then occur during the 2019/20 financial year.”
The Police Minister’s Office added, “As I discussed previously, it is a very substantial project so a lot of money will be spent on design etc.”
“I’m also really glad that they are planning on doing community consultation around the process which I’m sure you’ll be happy to see!”
Police will hold a meeting with the community on Thursday 13 December at the Tea Gardens Primary School.
