TUESDAY 26 September: Format for social bowls was three games of Fours. 18 ends.

Great to be given the opportunity to bowl on the grass again.

On Rink 9 Sheril Johnson, Bette Saillard, Wilma Drake and Deyonne Page had an 8 shot lead on the 8th end; this team continued to dominate play eventually winning by 11 shots.

They defeated Dawn Jones, Bev Stephens, Dale Winter and Karen Green.

The game on Rink 10 followed a similar pattern Christine Fossey, Veronica Conaghan, Bev Rhodes and Karen McPhie had a solid lead from the beginning, eventually downing Pam Gilchrist, Robyn Webster, Carol Hayden and Nola Jackson by 13 shots.

A much closer contest on Rink 11, Dawn May, Jill McBride, Olive McKeown and Wendy Brand led by 8 shots on the 4th end but this lead dwindled to 1 by the 11th end and eventually Bev Dunn, Francis Betar, Julie Kennedy and Lynne Green took the lead and came out winners. The final score 16 v 14.

Winners on the day with the highest score were Christine Fossey, Veronica Conaghan, Bev Rhodes and Karen McPhie.
Thursday 28 September: The RSL Pairs Trophy Day was held.

Thanks to the RSL Sub-Branch for sponsoring this annual event, without your support Trophy Days like this would not be possible.

Also thanks to RSL Sub-Branch president Michael Farrar for presenting prizes to the winners.

Format for play three bowls Pairs, three games of 8 ends. Fourteen teams competing.

Teams and game rotation were randomly selected.

The winners were Bev Rhodes and Robyn Webster and the Runners Up were Bette Saillard and Lynne Green.
Well done ladies, the competition was fierce.

Following play a delicious lunch was enjoyed the hard work of our Social Committee Dale Winter, Bette Saillard and Dianne Kiss.

Ladies your contribution to the day was greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all who helped out to make this say a great success.

Next big event is our annual Oncology Day, Friday 6 October.

Bowls will be played, raffles and a Tombola. All welcome.

All proceeds are donated to the Mater Hospital Newcastle Oncology Ward.
