The Thursday Walkers are welcomed annually to Kore farm to have a glimpse at what this sort of life might entail.

It is a fascinating insight into the depth of knowledge, skill and determination required.

We walked into Kore Farm from the main road and again I had to have a laugh at the manner in which we cross the creek. Could this be a reflection of our attitude to life in general?

Are you one who strides across first, certain that you know the correct route?

Do you survey the path ahead looking for the best way or wait for someone else to cross successfully so that you might follow in their footsteps?

My main concern is always that I get across with dry feet.

I won’t reflect on what that has to say about my attitude to life.

Helmut welcomed us to his home with a delicious morning tea and a sample of some of his excellent produce.

We then toured the farm and hopefully took away with us some of his knowledge and enthusiasm for this way of life and how to eat according to the seasons.

We were able to sample some of his delicious citrus and learn about different types.

I’m not too sure about the variety of ancient apple we sampled, despite its delicious aroma.

Thank you again Helmut for your hospitality and generosity.

Kore Farm produce is available for purchase at the Myall Quays market.
