His opponent is the current Australian Amateur Champion Jack Littlefield

“I’m definitely the underdog,” Daniel told News Of The Area.

“I’ve only had 15 fights and he’s had over 40,” Daniel said.

But Daniel has come a long way since he first jumped in the ring at a Rugby League Fight night three years ago.

“I was originally just a rugby league player, but from that moment I was hooked on boxing,” Daniel said.

“I’ve won two regional titles since then, but this is my biggest fight so far.”

“I used to fight at a heavier weight, but I’ve cleaned up my diet and lost a few kilos and I’m fighting better than ever,” the 24-year-old said.

It’s a busy life for Daniel.

He trains at least seven times a week, is studying for a business degree at Newcastle University and works part time at the Karuah Timber Mill.

But boxing is his first passion and his family is in his corner.

“This will be my last year as an amateur.”

“A lot of people would consider the Littlefield fight a mismatch but I’m going out there and giving everything I’ve got.”

There are still tickets available for the bout at the Raymond Terrace Bowling Club this Saturday May 6.
