FOUR University of Newcastle Communications students are preparing to film a documentary on the government imposed Red Zone.
Production is set to commence on 17 August, with filming taking place along Cabbage Tree Road, and parts of Williamtown and Salt Ash.
Kristen, the producer and editor, Ben; director and assistant cinematographer, Paris; sound editor and assistant editor and Eli; cinematographer and assistant director are all majoring in Media Production.
The team told News Of The Area, “We decided to form a team together in our documentary class as we all bring different skills to the table.”
“We wanted to do a story on the Red Zone as it’s a local problem that has affected the lives of many community members and we feel this is an issue that needs to be discussed more,” said Kristen.
The film will run for five minutes in total and will be uploaded to the ABC Open website where it will be considered for screen time.
The documentary will be completed and online by 31 October..
“Our aim for the documentary is to explore the ways in which the contamination has affected local community members and business owners.”
“We are looking to shoot some interviews with willing community members and local business owners within the Red Zone who have been affected by the contamination,” said Kristen.
