Wanted man caught by Tea Gardens Police

Tea Gardens Police last week observed a suspicious man walking along Myall Street Tea Gardens whereby just days earlier they had received numerous reports from concerned community members about a man who was seemingly living in sand dunes at Hawks Nest.

The man was committing no crimes, nor harassing anybody, however residents felt the need to report his presence in town.

When police observed him on Tuesday last week they stopped and spoke with him.

The man stated his name although but no actual form of identification.

Police conducted checks on the name he had supplied.

Checks revealed this named person had one outstanding arrest warrant and was facing eight charges including assaulting police.

The check also indicated the arrest warrant was for a man who had a 2 inch scar on his right cheek.

As a result the man police stopped in Hawks Nest was placed under arrest. He fitted the description as he also had a 2 inch scar on his right cheek.

He was conveyed to Raymond Terrace Police Station.

Once at the station the warrant was executed and he was refused bail, due to attend Raymond Terrace Local Court later that day.
