Wet start to Coffs Harbour cricket season

THE recent wet weather has had a big impact on the opening rounds of the latest Coffs Harbour District Cricket Association season.

Last weekend was another washout with no games played for the second round in a row.

The wet weather has also affected the new North Coast Cricket Council’s Premier League season.

The recent two-day match scheduled between Sawtell and Richardson Park was washed out over two weekends.

The North Coast Cricket Council’s junior representative inter-district competitions have also been affected with the last two rounds of matches washed out.

The Northern Districts Rebels and Valleys Cricket are scheduled to meet in an early season top of the ladder clash this weekend, during the opening day of two-day matches in the third round of the Premier League.

The Rebels host Valleys in Woolgoolga having opened their season with a win and a draw, while Valleys won their opening match of the season.

Defending premiers Sawtell will look to play their first two-day match of the season when they host Harwood at Richardson Park.

Both clubs will look for their first win of the new season with Sawtell having had the opening round bye and a washout, while Harwood have had a loss and a draw in the opening two rounds.

The fourth round of the Coffs Harbour District Cricket Association’s first grade season is also scheduled to be played this weekend, weather permitting.

Sawtell and the Northern Districts Rebels play off at Coffs Coast Sport & Leisure Park, while Valleys Cricket play host to Nana Glen in Macksville.
