Wirreanda Public School is involved again this year, and was pleased to let News Of The Area know that they have had sixteen dancers and sixteen drama students selected to participate in the 2017 performance event.

Wirreanda school teacher and Star Struck coordinator for the school, Corynne Darcy, told News Of The Area, “We’re so proud to be invited to be involved again this year.”

“Star Struck has such a wonderful energy, and is such an amazing experience for our young people to participate in.”

“They are making memories with their friends that will last a lifetime,” she said.

The Wirreanda students have had one rehearsal so far, with many more to come before dress rehearsals and performances begin.

Wirreanda is participating in two dances.

The first is a dance piece to the iconic song ‘Love is in the Air’.

The second dance is an upbeat piece to a song called ‘Superheroes’.

Star Struck is a self-funding, not-for-profit program of the Department of Education and Communities.

Star Struck showcases creative and performing arts throughout the Hunter Central Coast region by producing a high quality professionally staged regional event, with a cast of over 3,500 public school students.

The production is staged at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre each June on the weekend following the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

Tickets are already on sale through Ticketek.

News Of The Area will follow Medowie students with their Star Struck 2017 journey.
