Workskil Australia is a national not-for-profit employment services organisation who is also a jobactive provider with more than 30 years’ experience.

Andy Litten, a Work for the Dole Broker, covers areas from Dungog, Tea Gardens, Raymond Terrace, Medowie, Lemon Tree Passage and Tanilba Bay, the Tomaree Peninsula, and Newcastle.

Mr Litten works with five jobactive providers: Workskil, Joblink Plus, The Salvation Army Employment Plus, Max Employment and Mission Providence.

A person on Newstart commences the “Work for the Dole”phase after being on the program for 12 months.

If you are aged between 18-29 years, you must work 25 hours a week for a period of six months.

Thirty to 55 year olds only require 15 hours a week and if the client does not find work during the six-month period, the jobactive providers then assist with intensive job searching.

“Work for the Dole gives the client so many benefits; it’s a way that the person can give back to the community and at the same time learn new skills and gain confidence,” Andy Litten told Bay News Of The Area.

Work for the Dole is an easy step back into employment with a “soft skills” approach.

Being a part of a team, learning how to work to a deadline and reporting to people all helps the client gain confidence as well as learn new skills.

“We have great success with many gaining full-time employment after participating in a Work for the Dole placement,” Mr Litten said.
