Participants will have a single day starting 2pm Friday 31 March to create work responding to a specific theme that will be revealed on the day.

The Port Stephens 24 challenge aims to give young people the opportunity to express themselves on issues relevant to them and their community in a creative way.

Winner of last year’s People’s Choice Award, Mahaylia Soars, is excited the creative challenge has returned for the second year.

“It’s a great opportunity for young people in our area to indulge their creative side in a fun 24 hour competition”, she said.

Council’s Community Development and Engagement Coordinator, Penny Amberg, has said that preparing in advance for the creative challenge will not be possible.

“The theme and surprise element will only be unveiled on the day of the creative marathon”, she said.

“We want to keep the participants on their toes and create a real challenge!

“The winners will not only receive awards and prizes, but their piece will be showcased at the Light Up the Library Youth Week event at Raymond Terrace Library from 6pm Friday 7 April“, Ms Amberg said.

The theme will be announced on the PSCYouthAdvisoryPanel Facebook page at 2pm Friday 31 March and people will need to register interest by email to ryan.mouthaan@portstephens.nsw.gov.au  before they can upload their entries.
