The three day event has turned into a must do for holiday makers and locals alike with 10,000 books on offer.

It takes months of planning and gathering the books before the frantic last ditch effort by dozens of volunteers to ensure the sale goes off without a hitch.

“We had all the boys and girls from the Surf Life Saving Club come and help us with the set up,” Rotary’s Ian Mackenzie Smith told News Of The Area.

“They bought a big Pantech truck which we filled right to the very back doors.”

“We couldn’t do it without them.”

It’s then all hands on deck over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the January weekend.

“At one time or another the entire membership of the Myall Rotary Club , including spouses gets involved,” Ian said.

The book sale is a win for the community on so many levels.

Tourists and locals get the joy of finding something special read.

The volunteers from Rotary thoroughly enjoy the experience.

Charter members of the Myall Coast Rotary, Norma Glenn and Ann Browning spent the weekend manning the desk, “It’s fantastic because you meet some interesting people, they come from all over,” Norma said.

And of course all money raised goes back to not for profit organisations such as the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Life Saving Club.

“We’ve been going 13 years,” Ian said, “And I added up all the money we’ve given back to the community and it’s over $200,000.”

Needless to say Rotary will be back to do it all again next year.
