FOUR Tomaree Public School boys have made it to the State finals representing their school and region in the relay team.

Ian Beale, Tyler Sarmias, Max Fines and Lochlan Bartlett-Baldwin, all aged ten and from Tomaree Public School, have made it through to the State finals which will be held at PSSA Athletics at Sydney Olympic Park on 28 October 2016.

The four boys started their journey to the State finals when they competed at the local school sports carnival, then went on to compete at Zone, which encompasses all areas in Port Stephens.

Following on this stage, they competed at the Regional competition which comprised of the Hunter area.

As they were successful at all of these events, they were granted entry to the state level.

If they win at the state competition, they will then quality for the National competition.

Rick Sarmias, father to one of the boys and coach of the group told News Of The Area of the passion his son has shown through this competition, “Anything to do with sport and he will do it – Ian is mad on all sport and loves the skate park.”

These talented young boys would not be where they are through this journey, without the support of family, friends and especially their coaches who volunteer their time weekly.

Merri Brady of Nelson Bay and Rick Sarmias are very proud of their team, and are very thankful to Tomaree Public School for their donation of $125 to each student to go towards their entrance fees and uniforms.

If you would like to support this team of young men, please contact Tomaree Public School.

  1. Thanks for the coverage Mandy. The boys were happy to see their story. However Tyler Sarmias is the son of Rick Sarmias. Ian Beale IS mad on all sport and loves the skate park. Congrats on the paper. It’s a good read!
    Cheers
