Man dead after his car ran off Seaham Road, Nelsons Plains

A man has died in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 18 September) after his car ran off the road and hit a power pole on Seaham Road Nelsons Plains.

 

Shortly after 2.20am today (Sunday 18 September 2016), emergency services were called by concerned residents on Seaham Road at Nelsons Plains after reports of a loud impact.

Police from Port Stephens Local Area Command attended and located a Toyota utility that appears to have run off the road and struck a power pole near the intersection with Noongah Road.

The vehicle was heavily damaged and it appears the lone male occupant died on impact.

The recovery operation took several hours during which the deceased was released from the vehicle and the cracked power pole was isolated.

Investigators continue with their inquiries and are attempting to formally identify the man.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner outlining the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
