MidCoast Council has completed a $750,000 upgrade to the mooring and wharf facilities of the Forster Boat Harbour on schedule.
“Council engaged contractors to undertake construction, renewal and maintenance works including replacement of the existing southern floating pontoon structure; construction of a new loading /unloading pontoon structure at the boat ramp; and various repairs to other harbour facilities” said Council’s Manager of Property and Buildings Services, Mr John Dougherty.
“The southern pontoon, which had reached the end of its design life, has been replaced and repairs were also undertaken on the northern smaller pontoon. In addition, a brand new ‘finger’ pontoon was installed to assist with boat boarding close to the boat ramp” said Mr Dougherty.

In addition, general repairs and maintenance were carried out on the timber jetty and wharves.
“These works were funded by various government grants, including major support from the Department of Crown Lands, Road and Maritime Services Regional Boating program and accumulated profits from the operation of the mooring facilities at the boat harbour” said Mr Dougherty.
The works commenced in May 2016 and were completed on schedule. These major works are expected to serve mariners in Forster for the next 20 years.
