Court appearance for drink driver caught in Hawks Nest

A 17-year-old male will appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court in relation to a high range drink driving offence.

Police were called to Hawks Nest Surf Club carpark after the man fell from the driver’s seat of his vehicle at about 6.50am on 26 November.

Suspecting the driver was intoxicated, witnesses detained him until police arrived at the scene.

Following a breath test, the driver was placed under arrest and taken to Tea Gardens Police Station.

A reading of 0.157 was returned from a breath analysis.

The man held a provisional driver’s licence restricting him to zero alcohol.

His licence was suspended on the spot and a court appearance notice was issued.

The man was driving a Queensland registered vehicle.
