But these two groups have two common bonds.

They all love their lawn bowls and all support the educational program, ‘A Start in Life’.

Since its inception more than 90 years ago, ‘A Start in Life’ has supported more than 6,500 young Australians aged from 4 to 24 who’s circumstances have been described as living in crisis or living below the poverty line.

Last Friday, the Kneelers and Grippers got together at the Tea Gardens Country Club to raise some money and to hear from the Charity’s, CEO Neil Robinson.

“It’s a small charity and each year it supports around 200 students with their education,” Neil told News Of The Area.

“Our support can include helping with school fees, uniforms and making sure they have the tuition to ensure they keep up with their peers.”

“Education is very expensive and you want the kids to be participating in the extracurricular activities and you need the kids to have access to technology and IT support,” Neil said.

To that end the Kneelers and the Grippers support two students at Tea Gardens Primary School.

“We’ve been there from the start and will continue to do so right through to high school and possibly University if the students go there,” Terry Munright, President of the Country Club Board said.

The sponsorship of our local children has seen them improve academically and performing well outside the classroom.
