Arrested for seven times over the limit at Tea Gardens

AT around  3.30pm Sunday 17 July, police received a number of phone calls in relation to a green Toyota ECHO hatchback being driven by a female who appeared to be intoxicated.

It was said to Police that the vehicle was being driven very erratically.

Police responded from Tea Gardens and located the vehicle stopped on the left of the northbound lanes of the Pacific Highway at the intersection of Viney Creek Road (east) Tea Gardens.

At this time the 31 year old female driver from Sydney who was the sole occupant of the vehicle crawled from the driver’s seat into the front passenger seat and locked the door.

After a short while the vehicle was accessed by police and the female was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a reading excess of seven times the legal limit.

She was placed under arrest and conveyed to Tea Gardens Police Station for a breath analysis which in turn returned a reading of 0.313.

Amazingly she managed to drive from Sydney’s northern beaches to Tea Gardens which is approximately 219km’s.

She was intending to make it to Forster which is a further 106km’s approximately.

The lady was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station and detained as an intoxicated person before being released on the morning of Monday 18 July.

Her licence was suspended on the spot and she was issued with a court notice for high range PCA to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court on 1 August.
