THEY’VE been the dominant force of North Coast Football’s premier competition in recent seasons.

Now the Boambee Bombers are set to have a former Australian international guide them in 2021.

The Bombers have appointed former A-League player Troy Hearfield as their coach for the upcoming Coastal Premier League season.

Hearfield brings to the Bombers a wealth of top-class domestic and international experience, having played 116 A-League games for the Newcastle Jets, Wellington Phoenix, and Central Coast Mariners between 2006 and 2013.

He has also represented Australia in junior internationals between 2006 and 2008, having earnt 19 international caps for the under-20 and under-23 national squads.

The Tamworth native has recently been playing for his hometown club Tamworth FC, and also played for the Bombers during their FFA Cup campaign this year.

Hearfield is set to take charge of a Bombers squad who are the defending Coastal Premier League Northern Conference champions, and runners-up of the inaugural Coastal Premier League.

Having a player of Hearfield’s stature leading the Premier League squad added to the club’s culture and professionalism, according to Bombers president Fiona Clancy.

“Having such a high profile player choose our club above all due to our culture and family friendly environment oozes what Boambee FC is all about,” she said.

“Troy brings professionalism, a high standard, and an uptempo style of football.”

The Coastal Premier League is an inter-regional competition featuring clubs from North Coast Football and Football Mid North Coast which made its debut this year.

The Coastal Premier League season kicks off on 10 April, with the Bombers set to begin training in January.
