The idea is to build a raft that will see you take to the water on the big day.

There will be prizes for the best raft and the fastest raft and the silliest raft.

“The Raft Race will be for teams of four,” the Committee’s Jessica Harris said.

“I want to encourage clubs and businesses as well as families to enter.”

The idea is for groups or individuals to use their imaginations and come up with something that floats, it can be quirky or as simple as a couple of barrels tied together.

Jessica Harris, who runs Lazy Paddles, is also sponsoring a kayak race.

“This will be for teenagers 13 to 16 years of age in our double kayaks,” Jessica said.

“We’re calling it the Lazy Paddles Dash for Cash with a first prize of $100.

With less than three months to the big day, this year’s festival is gaining momentum.

Axemen and women from the Central Coast Association will be staging a wood chop demonstration throughout the day.
The Greenpaws Dog Show will be back as well.

As always, it will be open to every pooch in the district with prizes ranging from the best in show to the oldest, cutest or the most waggly tail so every dog has its day.

There’ll be live music, including a Crowded House Tribute band and of course no Myall River Festival would be complete without fireworks.

The Myall Coast Chamber of Commerce and Tourism would also like to encourage all businesses in town to have a presence, whether it be having a stall or sponsoring an event.
