The man purchased his winning two-dollar ticket from the Bulahdelah Newsagency.

Owner Sue Chick said the lucky winner was an unregistered player.

“We don’t know who it was, people who win large amounts usually wish to remain anonymous,” she said.

“All our machine tells us is that there has been a win, if it’s a big win, Lotteries ring and tell us exactly how much.”

The recent windfall isn’t the first-time lady luck has smiled on the small town.

According to Mrs Chick, there have been at least three previous winning Lucky Lotteries Jackpot tickets sold through the Bulahdelah Newsagency.

“There are about 275,000 tickets sold in this lottery each year, so if you win, it’s something quite special,” she said.

“The number of winning tickets we’ve had is great for a little place like this.”

The Bulahdelah winner told NSW Lotteries although he and his wife regularly buy lottery tickets, this is the first time they have ever won anything.

The lucky man said the money will be a great help as he approaches retirement.

He is also planning on using some of the prize to treat his family.

The lottery is a game of luck.

For every winner, there are always thousands of losers, so remember to gamble responsibly.
