Now that winning play is on tour.

On Friday 13 November the Year 11 Drama class was invited to perform at the Regional Psychology Conference held at Newcastle University.

They performed their award winning MindPlay on Orthorexia Nervosa to a 300 strong crowd.

Drama teacher, Vanessa Shultz, reported that despite having been months since the competition, the group was outstanding and clearly were able to strike a chord with the psychologists in the audience.

After the performance, many conference members approached the students to compliment them on their excellence and content and message of their play.

They were then asked if the group would consider making a DVD and distributing it to schools.

The District Guidance Officer to schools also asked if the drama students would go on tour to the mid North Coast.

“Congratulations to Chloe Shultz, Kyle Shultz, McKelty-Rae Searle, Ruby Keys, Luana White, Kant Richardson, Shannelle Russell and Sarah Rooney.”

“Also a huge thank you must go to the Hunter Institute of Mental Health for continuing to host this rewarding competition,” Vanessa Shultz said.

The award winning play was written by the Year 11 Drama students and is receiving much attention as mental health is an ever increasing concern within our schools and communities.
