Over 3 rounds the field had been reduced to just two teams and it was time to see which ‘Gorillas’ would triumph.

Sam Rees, Club President and appointed Controlling Body Rep said, “Tight games right through augured well for a close quality game in very trying conditions.”

After a shaky start by both sides some classy shots and tight heads saw Greg Pearson’s side get away to an early lead.

While Brenden Revell’s side fought back throughout the game they couldn’t beat the kinetic style which saw them unable to keep point scoring shots on the jack.

Fine play aficionado on the verandah John French said, “The big crowd thrilled to some breathtaking bowls, despite the heat, watching perhaps the most entertaining bowls for the last 4 years.”

In the end Greg Pearson, Dennis Ashbridge and Greg and George Brown played too strong for Brenden Revell, Peter Green, Phil Rathbone and Stewie Bagnall. What amounts to immortality awaits the winners, now recognised as Club Fours Champions for 2019.

Greg Pearson said, “Having finished second last year it will be very satisfying to finally get our names up on the club honour board.”
