The supermarket giant has given generously to the group as part of its ‘Second Bite’ initiative.

Under this scheme, perfectly good produce which is surplus to requirements is freely given to deserving local organisations.

Lyn heads up a federally funded service which provides a creche for young children and art and craft activities for parents, carers and others who would like to come along.

Age is no barrier.

The facility which has its home base at Mallabula Hall, also provides after school care for two days each week.

“Breaking down social isolation is one of our main goals,” Lyn said.

“A lot of young mothers, those new to the area and a few older residents find that it’s a great way to make friends and get out and about.”

“They can bring their own art, craft or sewing gear if they like and we offer the use of our own equipment for those starting out,” she said.

“The free fruit and veggies is a bonus. I collect it fresh each day from Coles and it disappears within five minutes.”

Lyn is available on 49 845 298 for details of the options and meeting times of the various neighbourhood services available.
