Councillor Peter Kafer artistic wares on display

THE Library’s popular Art Space at Raymond Terrace is set to play host to a familiar face, with the artistic wares of Councillor Peter Kafer soon to be on display.

The exhibition ‘Contemporary Aboriginal Art by Peter Kafer’ will exhibit from Monday 29 August to Saturday 24 Septemberand feature watercolours, acrylics and contemporary art painting on rocks.

Branch Librarian at Raymond Terrace Library, Donna Lloyd is excited at the prospect of playing host to one of Council’s own.

“The Art Space has proven to be a really popular platform for people to showcase their artistic flair and talent to the wider community.”

“We’re looking forward to hosting Councillor Kafer, who has been a great supporter of the work we do here in the library,” she said.

“Peter is a Dharawahl man and has brought together a fantastic collection for the exhibit, over the last 12 months he has also had some of his work on display at the Raymond Terrace YMCA,” Donna said.

Councillor Kafer has served as a Port Stephens Councillor for almost 8 years, having previously served on Newcastle City Council – he is also an active member of Australian Indigenous Art Code.

The exhibit will have an official launch on Friday 9 September at 4.30pm in the library courtyard.

The Raymond Terrace Library is located at 18a Sturgeon Street, Raymond Terrace.
