DARA’s van, and their program mates Orange Sky Laundry, are run solely by volunteers, with the two services working hand in hand to provide support to the community across several areas during the week.
Orange Sky Laundry offers residents a chance to wash their clothes, while DARA’s van provides a home cooked delicious meal.
The volunteers from Orange Sky Laundry and DARA (Development And Relief Agency), provide hospitality and friendship to anyone in need, offering you a warm meal, a clean load of clothes, and a friendly ear.
Ms Lee Moore-Sam, Programme Coordinator at DARA, told News Of The Area, “We opened our venue Raymond Terrace last year, and since that time the service has grown considerably, with us regularly feeding 20 or more friends on a Wednesday evening.”
“Orange Sky continues to partner with us each Wednesday evening offering laundry washing and conversation.”
“The partnership has been well supported by the community, but we are still looking for volunteers and are of course open to meeting even more people who can benefit from our services each week.”
This week, the Raymond Terrace service moves to a new location and a new time.
They will still be operating on Wednesday nights, but will operate from 15 Carmichael Street, Raymond Terrace from 5-7pm.
