The Pop up shop features the works of 10 main artists who also serve in the gallery shop.

The artists have met and are hoping that another pop up space will become available.

Artist Anna Webster told News Of The Area, “We are hoping that we will be able to find some space under a model similar to the Renew Newcastle one which will see the gallery fill vacant shop space in the Nelson Bay CBD.”

“Lots of locals have come through the gallery since we opened and the response has been very positive.”

“It has been wonderful to work with like-minded people, and offer a gallery which complements the Community Arts Centre,” she said.

Liza Black, another artist with works featured at the gallery, said “All the artists who display their works here and volunteer have a good knowledge of all the other artists and their works.”

“There are 10 key artists who contribute to the gallery and volunteer to serve as well as a couple of other artists that display their works,” she said.

Council purchased the premises many years ago with a vision of demolishing the building and creating better links from the town to the foreshore.

The gallery is being moved on, along with the business chamber, in preparation for the demolishing of the building and the building of the Yacaaba Street extension through to the waterfront.
