The big day had arrived and Eilish and family friend Jim Perry followed through their fundraising drive by losing their hair for Leukaemia by taking part in The World’s Greatest Shave in front of a crowd of locals and friends.

Renae Ballantine from Razor’s Edge Hair and Beauty Bulahadelah provided the skills and the scissors that left the pair lacking in locks.

Eilish was driven by a desire to help after hearing about Jim’s brother Rusty who is currently being treated for Leukaemia.

Rusty has reached the remission stage and started bone marrow transplant on 31 March and we all wish Rusty the best in his recovery.

With donation tins and posters at businesses from Hawks Nest to Bulahdelah, Eilish and Jim were overwhelmed with the response from the community.

“I would like to thank Coles and my boss Karen McCook who had 15 stores from as far away as Singleton donate $50 each totalling $750,” Eilish said.

Hoping to raise $1200, Eilish was over the moon when she totalled $2876.90 in donations.

Jim was also astounded by the support and raised $1841 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
