The twin towns flagship event has crept up this year, and is on this Saturday.

One of the new events this year is a pink flamingo race off ANZAC Park.

There will be 20 flamingo floaties, competitors have to register for the event with a gold coin donation at the ‘Ticket to Ride’ sign next to the main stage to be in the race.

“It will be fantastic fun,” said Roz Meehan a Stallholder Co-ordinator.

Registrations will be open from 10am to 1pm so get in early to secure your spot.

There will be three age groups, 10 to 12 year old’s, 12 to 16, and 16 and over. All you have to do is paddle your floatie 10 metres out and 10 metres back, a jet ski rider and life saver will be on hand to make sure all are safe.

Ms Meehan said, “There are some great prizes including vouchers from Mumm’s Restaurant, Hugo’s Newsagency in Hawks Nest and a couple of surprise awards.”

“So everyone’s a winner,” said Roz.

On the main stage, the prawn eating competition will get underway at Midday.

Back again this year at the Festival is the Greenpaws Dog show, from 11 am.

The Pearls volunteers who run ‘Buy My Wardrobe’ will also be staging ‘Pop Up’ fashion shows throughout the day, co-ordinated by Carole Richards.

There will be changed traffic conditions on the day, with Marine Drive closed to all traffic and parking from 9pm on Friday 25 October until 8.30pm on Saturday 26 October.
