RESCUE organisations are filled with animals needing a loving home and News Of The Area is excited by a new venture to connect rescue pets with our readers.
News Of The Area has collaborated with Port Stephens’ newest rescue group, the ‘KITTY Rescue Project’ and its founder, Amanda Warren.
“This project began when we realised the numerous ‘free kitten litters’ advertised, especially on the ‘Buy, Swap & Sell’ pages,” Amanda said.
One single pair of cats and their offspring can produce as many as 420,000 kittens in just seven years.
“We set ourselves up to bring those numbers of unwanted litters down, and are willing to offer a special rate service to desex all these cats who do not need to endure another unwanted pregnancy.”
“That is how we stop the cycle.”
“We can actually make a positive difference by making it our mission to volunteer our time for as long as it takes to make sure there are no more unwanted litters in need,” she said.
The KITTY Rescue Project rescues whole litters, cares for them within their volunteer foster homes, and ensures
that all the necessary veterinary work is completed before adopting them to loving families.
Each week, News Of The Area will showcase a new rescue pet looking for a home, currently fostered through either the KITTY Rescue Project or a local dog rescue group.
This week we have Lenny (Ginger) and Loui, who are domestic long hairs.
They are both sweet and playful kittens who are great with kids, other cats and dogs.
Loui is a little mischief maker, who loves wrestling with the other kittens, while Lenny loves snuggling up on the couch.
There are also some older kittens and adult cats in care available.
Male kittens are $200 and female kittens are $250.
The adoption fee includes desexing, microchipping, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments.
The KITTY Rescue Project are also looking for new volunteers to help foster new litters and older cats.
