Lisa Nicholson recently decided to help her 12-year-old daughter with the nerves of becoming bald for charity by sitting alongside her and getting her head shaved too.

The event, which took place at Market Place Raymond Terrace on 16 March, saw the family gather round in order for Brooke to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia foundation.

Lisa Nicholson told News Of The Area: “I wasn’t happy with my hair so I thought it would be a great opportunity to shave it in order to support Brooke and help her feel more comfortable.”

“I’m glad I did it as it made Brooke feel more confident and now we have matching hairstyles,” she said.

Brooke has now raised $1894 for the foundation, with an original goal of $250.

“I wasn’t nervous until I sat down in the chair and started cutting off my own ponytail,” Brooke said.

Her friends and school have been very supportive, putting her in their newsletter, Facebook page and making  donations to her fund.

“I found the experience very rewarding and I’m glad I did it, although I am missing my long hair,” Brooke said.

Donations will still be accepted until June 30 and can be made by searching Brooke Nicholson under the ‘sponsor a friend’ tab on the World’s Greatest Shave’ website.
