Glenn announced “This decision has been made quickly but not without deep consideration. I haven’t been seeking other jobs and I was surprised to be approached with an offer in the private sector”.

In accepting the resignation Mayor David West congratulated Glenn on the work and achievements since the merger in May 2016.

“This is disappointing news for MidCoast. As Councillors we have been building on the great work undertaken by Glenn and the staff since May 2016. Glenn has positioned the Council for success and now our job is to continue to build on this work”, Cr West said.

“Glenn will be remembered for his passion and commitment to the success of MidCoast Council”.

In a statement to staff last night Glenn commented “We have faced a number of significant challenges since the merger and I believe our combined efforts have set MidCoast Council up for success. I have consistently thanked staff for their efforts as the success we have achieved would not have been possible without working together.”

“As always, the new year will bring its share of challenges. There are still ongoing integration projects, a backlog of roadworks, and the possibility of bringing all indoor staff under one roof. However, our capacity to meet these challenges head-on has been proven by everything we have accomplished in 2017”.

“Throughout the ongoing process of aligning and integrating the way we work, we have been taking big steps towards achieving our community’s desired future, while also continuing to deliver our day-to-day services, and this has been recognised by our community”.

Steve Embry, MidCoast Council’s Director Corporate & Business Systems, will be Acting General Manager once Glenn leaves in the new year.
