Great Lakes Mayor give monthly update

FIT FOR THE FUTURE

WE are absolutely delighted to be amongst 37% of NSW Councils deemed ‘fit for the future’ last month in the NSW Government’s IPART Report.

We were on the only Council on the Mid-North Coast deemed fit AND who met all five of the criteria required.

This really is an endorsement that we are ‘getting it right’ for our ratepayers – and this achievement has only come because we have worked hard on our community partnerships and we have listened to you, our ratepayers, when you have told us your priorities.

COMMUNITY UPDATE MEETINGS

I HOPE you might attend one of our community update meetings this month at a location near you.

They are an excellent way to keep up to date with how Council is progressing with your priorities, and have a say in our options for the future.

These are interesting times for Councils in NSW and these meetings are important.

They will be held at:

Stroud School of Arts Hall on Monday 2 November at 6pm;

Tea Gardens Baptist Church Hall on Thursday 5 November at 6pm;

Forster Council Chambers on Friday 6 November 10am;

Bulahdelah School of Arts Hall on Monday 9 November 6pm.

WATERWAYS REPORT CARD LAUNCH

COUNCIL is holding a whole-of-community event at the Forster Visitor Information Centre on Friday 6 November from 6pm.

The Waterways Report Card for 2015 will be launched, this is an indication of how healthy our lakes and rivers are and it compares to previous years.

The event is a relaxed evening by the Lake, with a selection of our region’s delicious local produce to sample.

Please call Council on 6591 7222 to RSVP if you would like to attend.

20 YEAR SERVICE RECOGNITION

LAST month the Local Government Association recognised my 20 years of service to local government, all of it here in the Great Lakes.

I am very honoured and I would like to thank everyone for all of the community support I have had over these years.

We really have a great community.
